I just came across an amazing article about the true cause of depression and would like to briefly mention a few points it makes. This is by no means a complete summary. It’s best to go and read the original article.

Mind and Brain are tightly connected. Changes in brain chemistry affect the way we think and feel. It also goes the other way round – changing our thoughts and feelings affects brain chemistry.

Depression always has a cause: It arises from a belief that we cannot solve our problems. This belief can often be unconscious.
